What is the Gospel?
The Bible teaches that God creates everything for His own glory (Revelation 4:11). Therefore, the ultimate reason we exist is to give glory to God in all of our life (1 Corinthians 10:31). The problem in this pursuit is that we sin against God. Sin is failing to reach and attain God on our own (Romans 3:23) and exchanging God's glory for something else (Romans 1:23). The Bible warns when we die in our sins, we die eternally without God (Romans 6:23). Because of this, we fail to live as we were created.
The greatest news in the world is that Jesus Christ, God’s son came to earth, died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. He died on the cross as a substitute. We should have been punished for our sins, but He voluntarily took our place. His death provides forgiveness of sins once and for all, and a right relationship with God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus rose from the dead, proving that He is Lord and God. Jesus took our death and hell, and demands allegiance as Lord. He ascended back into heaven and sits there now, one day to judge the world.
Because Jesus paid the price for our sin, we cannot do anything to earn God’s favor. We must believe that He is the only sufficient Person to save sinners (John 14:6; Acts 16:30). Will you believe in Jesus?
